Opportunities to Serve Description

First United Methodist Church of Conroe
Serving God with Joy and Thanksgiving
We are humbled and amazed that God would call us to be partners with him in the Gospel work – bringing good news to others and building each other up within the church. Listed below are some of the areas in which you might serve as a follower of Jesus Christ and participant in the life of this church. Please prayerfully consider your place to serve and indicate that choice and desire on the enclosed commitment card.

Worship/Fine Arts/Music
There is much to be done on Sunday morning and beyond. Sunday morning responsibilities include ushering, Communion helpers, music, and technology support. Other responsibilities focus on work done in preparation for Sunday and on special services (Fine Arts, worship planning, set up, etc.).

The work of spreading the good news includes spreading the word about the life and heart and activities of the church. This area deals with newspaper ads, website design, and publications in the church.

Community Outreach
Again, we have many opportunities for people to serve. One of our outreach priorities this year is our P.U.S.H. ministry (Partners United for Sam Houston), with several opportunities to share the love of God with school children and their families. But, please note, P.U.S.H. is only one of several places to serve.

We are blessed that God has called us to serve both the people of our local community and those who live down the road or across the globe. Our various mission outreach programs have opportunities for people of all skill levels and experience.

There are more than 20 ministries that fall under this category focused on caring for our members and others. From Homebound Communion servants to facilitators of Senior activities to volunteering to help with ministries like The Gathering Place, there are a number of ways you can serve as a caring heart.

Hispanic Ministry
We are blessed with a thriving Hispanic discipleship community, but there is much work to be done in this area and you could help. Teaching ESL classes, being involved in Sunday morning worship are just a couple of ways.

From Greeters at the doors to a smiling face at the Welcome Center to making phone calls for birthdays, there is something for anyone who wishes to help others engage in the life of Christ here at FUMC.
No greater joy can be found for some people than being with children and teaching them about the love of God. Those who teach and those who help decorate for VBS and those who serve in the numerous other places are of equal importance and many hands are very helpful.

Sometimes the best we can offer is just our presence, and that is certainly true regarding youth ministry. If you would be willing to prepare meals, hang out on Sundays and/or Wednesdays, or help lead Bible studies, you will be both a blessing and one who is blessed.

Adult Ministries
Certainly this is a broad area with many ways to engage. It includes ministries for senior adults, singles, and young families. We need people who are willing to lead, organize, and coordinate.
