The ministers and staff at First United Methodist Church's wish to extend every possible assistance to you so that your wedding in our church will be a truly  memorable, spiritual and meaningful celebration.  To inquire about celebrating your wedding at First United Methodist Church, please contact Janet Cable at or 936-756-3395. Mark 1:8 states "I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Baptism and Holy Communion are the two Sacraments of the United Methodist Church.  In the Sacrament of Baptism, words, actions and the physical element of water are combined to both express and convey God’s grace and love.
At First United Methodist Church, we welcome children and adults into the family of faith just as Jesus did. Baptism of child is a commitment by parents to raise  the child in the life of the church, and of the Christian faith. During our Baptism liturgy, the entire congregation vows to love, encourage, walk with and embrace  these children on their path to eternal life.
  • Baptism is available for infants through adults in our church community.
  • Adults and young people may present themselves for Baptism at any time.
  • Please make reservations for the baptism & baptism class in advance of the date that you wish to have your child baptism
  • Contact Janet Cable 936-756-3395 to schedule a date.
First United Methodist Church strongly encourages that parent’s take a Baptism Class prior to their child’s Baptism.  If you would like more information about Baptism, we invite you to speak with a minister.
At First United Methodist Church, our focus when performing a funeral or memorial service is to use the resurrection of Jesus Christ as comfort and support while celebrating the life of the deceased. In the company of believers and through the uplifting strength of worship, family and friends can find the renewal of Christian faith, hope and love to sustain them in time of grief.  Click on the above image to access the Funeral Planning Guide
The distinction between a funeral service and a memorial service is whether the casket will be present.
  •  A funeral is conducted with the casket present
  •  It is not present during a memorial service
In either type of service, the emphasis is in providing an uplifting celebration of God’s power over death through scripture readings, prayer and music.

Important Note:  Times for services should not be set prior to confirmation of the availability of church facilities.  To make arrangements or to inquire further about the services, please contact Janet Cable at 936-756-3395 or
